Bob Dylan Desire Vinyl LP 2017 Reissue: Buy the 1976 Classic on 33rpm

Why Bob Dylan Desire Belongs in Your Collection

Bob Dylan Desire is one of the most exciting records in the entire Dylan catalog, and this 2017 vinyl LP reissue brings it back to life the way it was meant to be heard. Originally released in 1976, Desire arrived at a turning point in Dylan's career and delivered a sound that was bigger, bolder and more cinematic than anything he had recorded before. If you are building a serious vinyl collection, this album is an essential piece of the puzzle.

This edition is a 33rpm LP, brand new and sealed, with a release date of 1 December 2017. The original album dates back to 1976, and the studio recording captures every detail of one of Dylan's most adventurous sessions. From the opening notes of "Hurricane" to the closing strains of "Sara", Desire tells stories with a passion and urgency that still hit hard today.

A Landmark Album from 1976

Desire was recorded in the studio and produced by Don DeVito. It stands out in Dylan's discography for several reasons. This was the album that introduced the world to the violin-driven sound of Scarlet Rivera, whose playing gave the record its unmistakable atmosphere. The songs are long, narrative and full of vivid characters, drawing on real events, personal history and pure imagination.

The album also features contributions from Emmylou Harris, whose harmonies add warmth to tracks like "One More Cup of Coffee" and "Oh, Sister". The combination of Dylan's storytelling, Rivera's violin and the rich backing vocals created a sound that no other Dylan album has quite matched. It reached number one on the Billboard chart and remains one of his best-selling studio records.

Tracklist Highlights on This 33rpm LP

Every song on Desire earns its place, but a few tracks have become legendary in their own right:

• Hurricane - the powerful opening track about boxer Rubin Carter, a song that became one of Dylan's most famous protest anthems.
• One More Cup of Coffee - a haunting, gypsy-flavored ballad with one of Dylan's most memorable vocal performances.
• Oh, Sister - a beautiful collaboration with Emmylou Harris that showcases the album's softer side.
• Romance in Durango - a cinematic tale of love and danger south of the border.
• Sara - an intimate, emotional portrait of Dylan's then-wife and a perfect album closer.

Hearing these tracks on vinyl reveals layers that digital formats often miss. The warm analog sound of a 33rpm LP gives the acoustic guitars, violins and harmonies a natural presence that makes the whole record feel alive.
